Night is the Mother

In January 2024, Dance//Novella (D//N) once again partnered with The Polygon Gallery in North Vancouver. This exciting collaboration provided a three week creative residency which allowed D//N to research and create while exploring theatrical and physical concepts inspired by the enigmatic nature of dreams.

During this time, we built a new 35-minute work titled "Night is the Mother.” After collecting responses from the artists centered around their personal relationships to dreaming, the team collaborated to build an intersecting narrative that encompasses both sleep-induced visions and conscious reflections. The premiere of the first iteration of this work took place at The Polygon Gallery and The Dance Centre BC in April 2024. We have endless aspiration for the future of this work and are in the process of securing additional opportunities to continue researching and developing NITM.
